Are you a student looking for valuable work experience this summer? The Philippine Canadian Centre Inc. (PCCM) is excited to announce three fantastic opportunities available under the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program, part of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS)! These positions offer hands-on experience in community work, professional development, and the chance to contribute to meaningful initiatives in Winnipeg’s Filipino Canadian community.

🎯 We’re hiring for the following roles:


🧾 Junior Accounting Assistant

Do you have a head for numbers and an eye for detail?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile accounts using QuickBooks
  • Prepare and issue financial documents (bills, invoices, account statements)
  • Process payroll, tax forms, and government remittances
  • Prepare financial statements and accounting reports
  • Perform clerical accounting duties (filing, word processing)
  • Respond to inquiries and maintain good customer relations
  • Post journal entries and prepare trial balances
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the Treasurer and/or President

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a youth aged 15 to 30 years at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • International students are not eligible
  • No experience necessary, however, enrolled in or completed a program in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field preferred

HOURLY WAGE: $15.80/hour
HOURS OF WORK: minimum 35 hours a week, (schedule of work may vary)
DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT: 8 weeks, starting May 2025
LOCATION: 737 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg (on-site only, no remote work)
CLOSING DATE: April 28, 2025

πŸ“’ Public Relations Coordinator

Are you a creative communicator with a passion for storytelling?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies
  • Write speeches, presentations, press releases, and community materials
  • Prepare newsletters, brochures, website content, and social media posts 
  • Manage media inquiries and maintain media relations
  • Plan and publicize events, workshops, and programs
  • Assist in preparing reports, research papers, and promotional campaigns
  • Develop marketing strategies and maintain digital databases
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a youth aged 15 to 30 years at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and develop events for publicity, fundraising, and community engagement
  • Create and implement communication and marketing strategies
  • Prepare brochures, newsletters, and reports
  • Conduct research for funding opportunities and prepare applications
  • Manage social media and promote organizational activities
  • Perform administrative tasks and support development projects
  • Assist in delivering educational and promotional sessions
  • Design market research questionnaires

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a youth aged 15 to 30 years at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • International students are not eligible
  • No experience necessary, however, education in business marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field is preferred
